Job Summary:

  

This job is responsible for coordinating, managing and evaluating financial/revenue management operations for the Digestive Services product line for CHI-Franciscan Health (CHI-FH) in accordance with professional standards, business objectives and applicable regulatory requirements.  An incumbent provides direct oversight in assessing, developing and implementing initiatives/activities which enhance financial performance/productivity, maximize effective utilization of resources and support the maintenance of a cost-effective product line.  An employee plays a key role in advising Digestive Services management on financial matters impacting the function, and provides managers with information that is critical to decision-making on the financial and administrative aspects of operations and management.

Work also includes:  1) developing/managing the operations/capital budget for the function: 2) administration of the FDCA provider compensation pool; 3) researching/analyzing complex production/financial reports to identify problems and develop recommendations for decreasing expenses/enhancing revenues; 4) recommending/implementing/monitoring quality improvement initiatives to enhance/streamline current business procedures/processes and take advantage of regional synergies; and 5) developing comprehensive analyses relating to potential new business opportunities for the product line.

Work requires considerable knowledge of financial management principles and techniques as they relate to the administration of a significant and complex segment of the overall CHI-FH budget.  In addition, an incumbent must apply a broad knowledge of the objectives, procedures, work methods and regulatory requirements applicable to the assigned functions in order to effectively research, analyze and evaluate multiple complex and inter-related elements/issues that impact the optimal use of resources, expense control, revenue enhancement and overall productivity. 

 

Essential Duties:

 

  • Oversees Digestive Services business/financial operations to ensure that all activities are conducted in a timely and cost-effective manner and in compliance with professional standards, internal policies/procedures and applicable regulatory requirements. 
  • Develops and oversees administration of the annual operating/capital budget for the Digestive Services product line; gathers, consolidates and validates budget information and submits for CHI-FH approval following established timelines and procedures.  
  • Gathers, consolidates and validates monthly data for all charges generated by Digestive Services Product Line providers and submits for determination of provider compensation; applies a comprehensive understanding of complex physician compensation models to ensure data provided is timely and accurate. 
  • Researches and prepares complex and multi-faceted business operations/financial modeling/analytical reports/metrics, including feasibility analyses and/or pro formas for new business opportunities or services.
  • Analyzes quality data to formulate recommendations for Digestive Services performance/process improvements projects and initiatives; provides professional expertise and manages performance improvement teams convened to address and develop solutions to clinical or operational challenges and objectives. 

Education/Work Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, business administration, Finance or other related field
  • Five years of progressively responsible related work experience that demonstrates attainment of the requisite job knowledge abilities.
  • Or any equivalent combination of education and experience which would demonstrate attainment of the requisite knowledge/abilities sufficient to perform the essential functions of the position.
